Seller Shipping Guide

Everything you need to know to ship your golf
equipment safely and efficiently.

Introduction

Shipping golf equipment correctly is critical to ensuring items arrive safely and buyers remain satisfied. Poor packaging can lead to damage, higher costs, or delayed deliveries. The following guide provides Golfmerce-approved shipping standards and box recommendations for common items sold on the platform—based on USPS shipping guidelines.

Materials You'll Need

Before packing your item, gather the following supplies:

  • Triangular or rectangular shipping boxes (Recommended: 38" x 6" x 6" or similar)
  • Material 1Material 2
  • Bubble wrap for protecting clubheads and shafts
  • Durable packing tape
  • Cardboard scraps, newspaper, packing paper, or kraft paper for filling space
  • Padded poly mailers (for small, soft items like polos or gloves)

Important:

Do not use round mailing tubes, shrink wrap, loose bubble wrap, poly bags, or soft-sided packaging without structure. USPS may reject these or charge more due to lack of protection or improper sizing.

Tip:

Avoid any dimension over 48 inches—this is a common threshold for USPS size-based surcharges.

Step-by-Step Packing Instructions

1

Wrap Club Heads

Individually wrap each club head with at least two layers of bubble wrap. Secure the wrap with packing tape.

2

Protect Shafts

Bundle the clubs together with shafts parallel. You can use tape or ties to keep them from shifting. Avoid direct tape contact with grips.

3

Prepare the Box

Add a layer of crumpled packing paper or bubble wrap to the bottom of the box for cushioning.

4

Fill and Secure

Place the bundled clubs in the box. Fill any empty space with packing material to prevent movement. The clubs should be snug.

5

Seal and Label

Seal the box securely with packing tape along all seams. Attach the shipping label clearly and flat on the largest surface.

Common Packaging Mistakes

  • Leaving empty space in the box: This increases the risk of clubs piercing through during transit.
  • Using round tubes or soft poly bags: These are not secure and can be rejected or upcharged by USPS.
  • Skipping padding: Even snug boxes require cushioning around clubheads and shafts.

USPS Tips

  • Use Golfmerce’s integrated USPS label system for discounted rates and accurate tracking.
  • Smaller, dense packages generally cost less than larger, lightweight ones.
  • For soft goods like polos and gloves, use padded mailers to save on shipping fees.
  • Always double-check size and weight before finalizing your shipment.

Final Pre-Shipping Checklist

  • Item is properly wrapped and padded
  • Box fits the item with minimal excess space
  • Return address and label are clearly attached
  • Box is sealed tightly with packing tape
  • Dimensions do not exceed 48" in any direction
